India raises solar target to 100,000 MW by 2022, says Minister Piyush Goyal

Minister highlights Ultra Mega Solar projects.

 

This would be achieved by installing 40,000-MW rooftop solar panels and 60,000-MW ground-based panels/plants, said Piyush Goyal, Minister of State New and Renewable Energy in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on 10 August 2017.

The government has launched Scheme:

i. for over 50 Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects of over 40,000 MW of solar power projects.

ii. Scheme for setting up 1,000 MW of Grid-Connected Solar PV Power Projects by Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) and Government of India organisations with Viability Gap Funding (VGF).

iii. Scheme for setting up 300 MW of Grid-Connected Solar PV Power Projects by Defence Establishments and Para Military Forces with VGF.

iv. Pilot-cum-demonstration projects for development of grid connected solar PV power plants on canal banks and canal tops.

v. Bundling Scheme – 15,000 MW grid-connected solar PV power plants through NTPC Ltd./NVVN.

vi. VGF Scheme for setting up of 2,000 MW of Grid Connected Solar PV Power Projects through SECI.

vii. VGF Scheme for setting up of 5,000 MW of Grid Connected Solar PV Power Projects through SECI.

viii. Installation of Grid Connected Solar Rooftop Power Plants.

As on 31.07.2017, the cumulative Solar Energy capacity installed was 13,652 MW, up from 3,743.97 MW at the end of 2014-15.

He said Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Telangana have crossed the solar installed capacity of 1 GW, as on 31.07.2017.

State-wise details are as follows:

Andhra Pradesh 2,048.82 MW; Gujarat 1,262.10 MW; Karnataka 1,260.58 MW; Madhya Pradesh 1,116.64 MW; Rajasthan 2,022.72 MW; Tamil Nadu 1,697.32 MW and Telangana 1,609.27 MW. fii-news.com
