Canada’s Advantech Wireless Ltd is finalizing a contract with Bharat Electronics Ltd covering transfer of technology to manufacture components for satellite power amplifiers.
“We will initially supply part of the components and transfer the manufacturing technology for power amplifier manufacturing to Bharat Electronics over the process,” said Arka Saha, the company’s director of sales in India.
The amplifiers boost signals from satellites.
Bharat Electronics is expected to start manufacturing from next year.
Saha described the Advantech-Bharat Electronics tie-up a part of “Make in India”.
Currently, Advantech markets the power amplifiers to the Indian defence and media industries.
The Indian market accounted for about 10 per cent of Advantech’s US$123 million revenue in 2014.
