Digital Economy: 65m jobs by 2025
Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) technologies will create synergies for the promotion of skill development activities and enhance innovative environment, especially in the MSME sector.
This was outlined by Sumit Duggal, Co-Chairman, Innovation & Startup Committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at a seminar on application of VR/AR in MSMEs on 15 Nov 2019 in New Delhi.
The VR/AR will further augment new business opportunities for the MSMEs, he added.
Implementing a small digital platform for public and MSMEs can create a huge change in people’s lives and generate economic value in the industry, elaborated Dr. B.K. Murthy, Scientist (Scientist G and GC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
“The digital economy can support around 65 million jobs in India by 2025,” said Dr. Murthy, suggesting creation of an ecosystem which can promote industry-academia linkages.
The fourth industrial revolution would encompass the use of smart machines, internet of things, cloud computing and smarter cities connected to the internet, according to Yadu Kr. Yadav, CoE: IT for I 4.0, National Productivity Council, Commerce & Industry Ministry.
He urged policymakers to establish fundamental building block of good governance and facilitate creation of industry 4.0 labs at various locations in the country.
This will lead to skill upgradation, better institutional framework, strengthen human capital, technology and innovation, he added.
Groundbreaking technologies like Virtual Reality have influenced and impacted the lives of humans in every field of work like tourism, healthcare, manufacturing, among others, said Dr. Suman Mazumdar, Scientist D, DSIR, Science & Technology Ministry.
“We should encourage MSMEs to use AR/VR in their organizations as it allows every characteristic of a part, process or mechanism to be simulated and tested,” Dr Mazumdar stressed. fiinews.com
