Govt initiates dairy infra fund

The World Bank-funded National Dairy Plan Phase-I, National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) among other schemes are being operationalised by the state governments through milk cooperative/federations related to the state, said Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh.

He also informed of the government initiated Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF) which aims to benefit 9.5 million milk producers in 50,000 villages.

Disclosing this on 26 Nov 2018 in Delhi, said the Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme has a provision to provide financial assistance for providing self-employment opportunities in various activities from milk production to marketing.

Under this, 331,314 dairy units have been established, for which the government has provided subsidy of Rs.1,401.96 crore.

Speaking on the “National Milk Day”, he said 10 semen centres have been identified for the production of “Sex Sorted Semen” for the production of more female animals under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM).

Twenty Embryo Transfer Technology (ETT) centres are also being established in the country while proposals for 19 centres have been approved so far.
