Indian exporters are among more than 3,000 companies from over 130 countries participating in the six-day China International Import Expo being held in Shanghai.

India’s participation, including the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) is to reduce over US$51 billion trade deficit with China.

The Indian delegation is led by Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan.

President Xi Jinping opened at expo on 5 Nov 2018.

Global industry has thronged to the expo, China’s first international mega event. It ends on 10 Nov 2018.

Fii editor: “Will this mega show opens up China’s huge market to global exporters?”

“It is time China respond to global trade with open doors.”

Beijing could correct the current uncertainties in global trade, especially created by its huge deficits with US and other international markets.

“The time is right for China to be a global buyer after it has done well as the world’s factory.”
